Dr. Watson and Candy Rose were slow to begin.  Enchanting Image, Omega Brittany and Select Opal collided approaching the first turn.  Select Opal was checked off Enchanting Image on the first turn severely checking Select Opal.  Zafonic Express and Minnie Hook collided approaching the home turn checking Zafonic Express.

Stewards spoke to Mr. W. McMahon the trainer of Diamond regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Diamond last raced on 03/04/16.  Mr. McMahon stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a spell.  Mr. McMahon declared a new weight of 33.3kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2).  Diamond last raced at 32.0kg.

A pre-race sample was taken from Dargo Dasher.

Diamond and Gym Boots were quick to begin.  Terra Flash and Diamond collided approaching the first turn.  Codename Phoenix and Dr. Illuminate collided approaching the first turn.  Picaninny Queen was checked off Diamond approaching the first turn.  Terra Flash and Codename Phoenix collided approaching the first turn checking Codename Phoenix and Dr. Illuminate, Codename Phoenix lost ground as a result.  Hurricane Craig and Diamond collided on the first turn checking Hurricane Craig.  Picaninny Queen and Dr. Illuminate collided approaching the home turn, on the home turn and again entering the home straight.

A pre-race sample was taken from Arborstone.

Dee Tee Vane was quick to begin.  Brandeen Tubbs was checked off Kallay approaching the first turn.  Kallay and Under The Grille collided approaching the first turn.  Kallay faltered on the home turn and lost ground.

Kallay was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a fractured right hock, a 28 day stand down period was imposed.

A sample was taken from Jett Zafonic - winner of the event.

Just Hang On was a late scratching at 6.30pm on the advice of the Club's Veterinary Surgeon due to injury.  A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

A pre-race sample was unable to be obtained from Why Not Josie, a post race sample was subsequently taken.

Select Racer, Mister Stopper and Why Not Josie were slow to begin.  Dr. Squidley and Cracking Joe collided approaching the first turn.  Mister Stopper clipped the heels of Dr. Squidley approaching the first turn.  Mister Stopper galloped on Dr. Squidley approaching the home turn.  Dr. Squidley and Mister Stopper collided approaching the home turn.  Dr. Squidley and Kimba Katani collided approaching the winning post.

Mister Stopper was vetted following an incident in the catching pen.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a cervical spinal fracture and was humanely euthanased.

Select Racer was vetted following an incident in the catching pen.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a laceration between the toes on the left front foot, a laceration to the left front leg, abrasions to the face and a nose bleed, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.

A sample was taken from Can't Be Caught - winner of the event.

Stewards spoke to catching pen attendants Mr. S. Sinclair, Mr. M. Craig and Club Manager Mr. H. Caruana after an incident as the greyhounds entered the catching pen involving a collision between Select Racer and Mister Stopper.  After hearing evidence from Mr. Sinclair and Mr. Craig Stewards are of the opinion that the collision was an unfortunate accident.

A pre-race sample was taken from Shanlyn Frank.

Kelly Hook and Shanlyn Frank were slow to begin.  Willowvale Brezz and Reatily Shintaro collided approaching the first turn checking Willowvale Brezz and Pink Rocket.  Barroom Shiraz and Kelly Hook collided approaching the second turn.  Shanlyn Frank and Willowvale Storm collided on the second turn checking Shanlyn Frank.

Sheldon Rose and Johnny Mobster were slow to begin. Daintree Rhumba and Walk Woody Walk collided soon after the start.  Zipping Comet was checked off Sheldon Rose approaching the first turn. Sheldon Rose and Walk Woody Walk collided on the first turn. Zipping Comet, Johnny Mobster and Daintree Rhumba collided on the first turn checking Daintree Rhumba. Walk Woody Walk was checked off Charm Again on the third turn.

Van Damm, Dr. Poppel and Night Prancer were slow to begin.  Dr. Kestrel, Johnny Bullet and Cheerful Scout collided approaching the first turn checking Cheerful Scout.  Johnny Bullet and Van Damm collided on the first turn.  Van Damm and My Lady Limonite collided approaching the second turn checking My Lady Limonite.  Dr. Kestrel, Dr. Poppel and My Lady Limonite collided entering the back straight checking My Lady Limonite.  Cheerful Scout was checked off Night Prancer on the home turn.

A pre-race sample was taken from Coalville Tiger.

Brother Leo and Bobby's Baby were slow to begin.  Machiko and Irish Mobster collided approaching the first turn.  Apollo's Twin and Brother Leo collided approaching the home turn.

Stewards spoke to Mr. W. McMahon the trainer of Dr. Frankie regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Dr. Frankie last raced on 24/04/16.  Mr. McMahon stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following an injured left calf.  Mr. McMahon declared a new weight of 32.8kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2).  Dr. Frankie last raced at 30.9kg.

A pre-race sample was taken from Sir Richard.

Dr. Frankie, Sultan's Pride and Bowon Approach were slow to begin.  Come To Play, Why Not Becky and Rusty Sidebottom collided soon after the start checking Rusty Sidebottom.  Bowon Approach and Why Not Becky collided approaching the first turn.  Dr. Frankie and Sultan's Pride collided approaching the first turn.  Dr. Frankie was checked off Sultan's Pride approaching the first turn checking Sultan's Pride.

Sultan's Pride was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right triangle muscle, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Stagger Express was a late scratching at 6.50pm due to weight variation (GAR 39).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.  Trainer Mr. D. Condon was fined the sum of $100.

A pre-race sample was taken from Splash Of White.  

Andiamo Neo was slow to begin.  Miss Pepperoni and Phil's In Luck collided on the first turn checking Tiger Rance and severley checking Ataraxia and Andiamo Neo causing Ataraxia to fall.  Miss Pepperoni was checked off Omega Sniper on the second turn.

Ataraxia was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured neck, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Dr. Yanmar was a late scratching at 6.31pm due to injury.  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.  Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted.

Elswyk Gal was quick to begin.  Jay Jay Bee and Precipitation collided soon after the start.  Aston Philou and Hit Legs collided approaching the first turn.  Jay Jay Bee was checked off Aston Philou on the first turn.  Dr. Bodacious and Elswyk Max collided on the first turn.  Jay Jay Bee was checked off Precipitation approaching the second turn.  Elswyk Gal and Aston Philou collided on the home turn.

Cleo's Boy, Shanks Very Much and Nero Rose were slow to begin.  Shanks Very Much and Dr. Ripped collided approaching the first turn.  Swan's Waddle and Rusty Mia collided approaching the first turn. Swan's Waddle, All About Arby and Dr. Dynomite collided on the first turn checking Swan's Waddle, Dr. Dynomite, Rusty Mia and Dr. Ripped. Dr. Dynomite and Nero Rose collided on the first turn. Shanks Very Much, Dr. Ripped, Dr. Dynomite and Rusty Mia collided in the back straight checking Dr. Ripped, Dr. Dynomite and Rusty Mia. Shanks Very Much was checked off Nero Rose on the home turn checking Swan's Waddle. Shanks Very Much and Swan's Waddle collided on the home turn.
