Too Fly Bro was a late scratching at 8:32am due to injury (GAR 23).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted. Stewards spoke to Mr. G Kantzidis the trainer of Too Fly Bro regarding the scratching time of the greyhound. After hearing evidence from Mr. Kantzidis stewards charged him with a breach of GAR23(1)(a) in that he failed to ensure that the greyhound was free of injury prior to scratching time. Mr. Kantzidis pleaded not guilty to the charge. Stewards found Mr. Kantzidis guilty and fined him the sum of $200, wholly suspended for a period of 12 months. In determining this decision stewards took into consideration Mr. Kantzidis's honesty during the scratching process and the injury as well as his good record in over a 35 year period as a trainer. Mr. Kantzidis also stated that he would review his morning let out procedure.

Sienna's Lilly and Regal Note were slow to begin. Mon Dasha was very slow to begin (3 lengths). Mitch's Delight and Call Me Loulou collided soon after the start. Calen was quick to begin. Heartbreak Hermy and Marmasette were slow to begin. Mepunga Focus and Allegro Destini collided entering the back straight. Marmasette and Flyin' Les Fergi collided entering the back straight checking Flyin' Les Fergi. Mepunga Focus and Marmasette collided approaching the home turn checking Mepunga Focus.

Flyin' Les Fergi was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Harvest Gold was a late scratching at 12:21pm due to illness (GAR 23).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted. 

Derby Magic was slow to begin. Mahogany Diamond, Veetee Boomer, It's An Illusion and Cowboy Jury collided soon after the start checking Mahogany Diamond and severely checking Elite Strees. Slipaway Simba was quick to begin. Miss Briony was slow to begin. Little Horey's, Zero Whispers and Lido's Boy collided soon after the start. Merlot Magic galloped on the heels of Slipaway Simba in the back straight. Lido's Boy and Little Horey's collided approaching the second turn. Wise Harry was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left back muscle. A stand down period of 7 days was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr. J Psaila, the trainer of Billy Bio regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Billy Bio last raced on 29th January, 2016 and is returning to racing after a right hock injury.

Mr. Simon Smith, handler of Boris Lee declared a new weight of 34.1kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Boris Lee last raced at 32.1kg.
