Dessie Walnut was quick to begin. Thunder Flame and Parkfield Shower were slow to begin. Acey Boy and Harsh Miles collided soon after the start. Thunder Flame, Acey Boy and Harsh Miles collided on the first turn. Acey Boy and Fairy Tiger collided on the home turn checking Fairy Tiger. Fairy Tiger and Parkfield Shower collided on the home turn.

Trial 1 400m - Solo Weight Trial
Russ Will Crow trialled over the 400 metre distance from box 1, weight 35.2kgs. The time of the trial was 23.25. Russ Will Crow was cleared.
Trial 2 400m
Stewards spoke to Mr. K. Podmore, the trainer of Creative Karisma regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced. Creative Karisma last raced on 20th November 2015. Mr. Podmore stated that the greyhound was returning to race after an injured stopper. Pursuant to GAR 77A, Creative Karisma trialled over the 400 metre distance from box 1, weight 32.4kgs. The greyhound was placed 4th, in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 22.98. The greyhound was beaten by a margin of 31 lengths. Creative Karisma was not cleared.
Creaive Karisma was vetted following the trial. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left triangle injury, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.
