Major Blast was a late scratching at 11:26am due to weight variation (GAR 39).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.  Trainer, Mr. B. Hodgson was fined the sum of $100.

A pre-race sample was taken from Don's Disaster.

Twisted Barrel was quick to begin.  Magic Mia went up with the lids at box rise and was slow to begin.  Go Close and Sixty Three collided soon after the start. Don's Disaster checked off Monaleen Monty on the first turn.  Go Close, Twisted Barrel and Magic Mia collided on the first turn severely checking Twisted Barrel which stumbled and contacted the running rail.

Twiisted Barrel was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to its right monkey muscle and right quadriceps.  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Baron Bob was a late scratching at 11:43am on the advice of the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon due to a laceration to the left fore leg.  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr. P. Wilson, the trainer of Wrecking Ralph regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Wrecking Ralph last raced on 4th April 2016.  Mr. Wilson stated that the greyhound was resuming racing following an attack of acidosis.

Sootette was slow to begin.  Hit The Beat, Prison Cells and Zelemar Leap collided soon after the start.  Monaleen Deejay checked off Hit The Beat approaching the first turn.  Zelemar Leap, Wrecking Ralph, Monaleen Deejay and Financial Bonus collided on the first turn checking Financial Bonus, Monaleen Deejay and Wrecking Ralph.  Wrecking Ralph, Monaleen Deejay and Sootette collided approaching the home turn.  Monaleen Deejay and Sootette collided on the home turn checking Sootette.  Zelemar Leap checked off Financial Bonus in the home straight.

Belena Prince trialled over the 390 metre distance from box 1, weight 30.7kgs.  The greyhound was placed 1st, in a field of 4.  The time of the trial was 22.22.  The greyhound won by a margin of 12 lengths.  Belena Prince was cleared.
