Stewards spoke to K. Browney, the trainer of Storm Trooper regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Storm Trooper last raced on 1 March 2016 and is returning after a change of kennels.

A pre-race sample was unable to be obtained from Dee Don Diego, a post race sample was subsequently taken.

Brodie Keeping, Storm Trooper, Label This and Canal Court were slow to begin and collided soon after the start.  Purple Hand and Dee Don Diego collided on the first turn, checking both greyhounds.  Brodie Keeping contacted the running rail on the first turn, checking Label This and Brodie Keeping.  Delvin Flash checked off Storm Trooper on the first turn.  Dee Don Diego checked off Purple Hand approaching the second turn.  Canal Court galloped on the heels of Dee Don Diego approaching the home turn, checking both greyhounds.

Dusty Chopstix and Calm Intention were quick to begin.  Weekend In Paris, Fab Dream and Candy Rose were slow to begin.  Weekend In Paris hit the running rail on the first turn and lost ground as a result.  Segovia, Calm Intention and Dusty Chopstix collided on the first turn, checking Dusty Chopstix, Calm Intention and Fab Dream.  Fab Dream checked off Calm Intention approaching the second turn.  Segovia, Hands To Myself collided approaching the second turn, causing Hands To Myself to race wide.  Dusty Chopstix and Calm Intention collided approaching the second turn, checking Calm Intention and Candy Rose, causing both greyhounds to race wide as a result.  Weekend In Paris and Fab Dream collided on the second turn.  Weekend In Paris and Candy Rose collided approaching the home turn.  Dusty Chopstix and Candy Rose collided entering the home straight, checking Dusty Chopstix.

Weekend In Paris was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained abrasions to the left shoulder, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.

A pre race sample was taken from King Farouk.

Vicarious and Mepunga Laser were slow to begin.  Rapid Intention, Cosmic Tilly and King Farouk collided on the first turn, checking Rapid Intention, Cosmic Tilly, King Farouk, Mepunga Laser and Vicarious.  Rapid Intention raced wide approaching the second turn, causing Vicarious to race wide.  Cosmic Tilly checked off King Farouk approaching the second turn, checking Rapid Intention.  Mepunga Laser and Aston Upton collided on the home turn.  Vicarious veered out and marred Rapid Intention in the home straight.  Rapid Intention and Vicarious collided approaching the winning post.

Vicarious was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Stewards spoke to B Bravo, the trainer of the greyhound Vicarious regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight.  Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Vicarious with marring. B Bravo pleaded guilty to the charge, Vicarious was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Cranbourne and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Dundee Tango, Vancouver Star and Tommy's Tune were slow to begin and collided soon after the start, checking Dundee Tango and Vancouver Star.  Sally's Treasure, Dr. Kestrel, Rusty Sidebottom, Vancouver Star and Tommy's Tune collided on the first turn, checking Vancouver Star and severely checking Rusty Sidebottom and Tommy's Tune, causing both greyhounds to lose ground as a result.  Sally's Treasure and Dundee Tango collided on the home turn.  Dr. Kestrel and Angelic Hand collided approaching the winning post.

Destinee Saint and Another Hope were slow to begin.  Night Prancer, Lady Cyclops and Whodat Bangin' collided approaching the first turn, checking Night Prancer.  Another Hope clipped the heels of Thomas Dee approaching the second turn.  Night Prancer and Another Hope collided entering the back straight.  Destinee Saint and Another Hope collided on the home turn.  Lady Cyclops and Rubrica collided approaching the winning post.

Creative Hit and Miss Pepperoni collided approaching the first turn.  Shanlyn Percy and Gardot collided approaching the first turn, checking Invienna.  Gardot checked off Shanlyn Percy on the first turn, and again approaching the home turn.  Gardot and Miss Pepperoni collided entering the home straight, severely checking Miss Pepperoni and Stick Hero, causing Miss Pepperoni to stumble.  Shanlyn Percy and Creative Hit collided in the home straight.

MEETING CONDITIONS:

Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR 77A) - Stewards spoke to F. Bickerton, the representative of Pacific Gem regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced.  Pacific Gem last raced on 11 November 2015. Mr. Bickerton stated that the greyhound was returning from being on season.  Pursuant to GAR 77A, Pacific Gem trialled over the 311m from box 1, weight 26.5kgs, the greyhound was placed 2nd in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 17.92, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 7 1/4 lengths. Pacific Gem was cleared.

Satisfactory Trial Results - Hyundai Hawk trialled over the 311m from box 7, weight 31.9kgs, the greyhound was placed 1st in a field of 4. The time of the trial was 17.92, the greyhound won by a margin of 7 1/4 lengths. Hyundai Hawk was cleared.
