Ultima Bale and Convoy were slow to begin. Convoy checked off Penelopes Cruzn soon after the start. Campeon, Red Light Runner, Sketchy Nick and Red Hot Millie collided on the first turn, checking Campeon and Red Light Runner. Sketchy Nick and Red Hot Millie collided approaching the home turn, checking Ultima Bale and Penelopes Cruzn and causing Sketchy Nick to fall and Penelopes Cruzn raced wide as a result. Wombat and Sketchy Nick collided several times in the home straight, checking Wombat. Red Light Runner and Ultima Bale collided in the home straight, checking Red Light Runner. Wombat and Convoy collided approaching the winning post, checking both greyhounds.
