Mr. P. Trim, trainer of Alvie Flyer redeclared a new weight of 25.5kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Alvie Flyer last raced at 27.1kg.
Blink, Tear Away Babe and Alvie Flyer were quick to begin. Iron Hippy, Trigger Trim and Charlie's Lady collided soon after the start. Blink and Tear Away Babe collided approaching the first turn. Blink checked off the heels of Kirabilli Ronan on the first turn, checking Tear Away Babe, Iron Hippy and Alvie Flyer, and causing Charlie's Lady to race wide. Blink and Tear Away Babe collided approaching the home turn, entering the home straight and again in the home straight, checking Blink. Iron Hippy and Alvie Flyer raced wide in the home straight.
