Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Billy Bubba upon arrival at the course, prior to kennelling.
Stewards spoke to Mr D. Craven, trainer of the greyhound Varix which had not raced since 17 January 2016. Mr Craven stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after recovering from a wrist injury and spell. Mr Craven stated that he was also waiting for a place for the greyhound in the GAP program but would continue to race the greyhound whilst it was trialling well.
A pre race sample was taken from Bullet Express.
Chief Brit was slow to begin. Billy Bubba and Bullet Express collided approaching the first turn. Who's That Chap, Billy Bubba, Bullet Express, Wobbler and Varix collided on the first turn, checking Bullet Express, severely checking Wobbler, Billy Bubba and checking Who's That Chap which stumbled. Billy Bubba and Wobbler collided approaching the home turn, checking both greyhounds. Varix checked off Lord Regnar approaching the winning post.
Who's That Chap was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Billy Bubba was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right dew claw injury and split webbing, a 21 day stand down period was imposed.
