Triangles Tony and Mina Wings were quick to begin.
Hurricane Elsie was severely checked by Rockin' Queenie approaching the winning post. Hurricane Elsire underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported.
Rockin' Queenie visibly eased and subsequently pulled up approaching the winning post, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have injuries to the left monkey and left back muscle. A 28 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr. Grant Masterson regarding Rockin' Queenie’s racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Rockin' Queenie was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Masterson pleaded guilty to the charge. Rockin' Queenie was suspended for 28 days (1st offence) at Healesville and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
