Annabella Girl was quick to begin. Wolf Spy and Hella Bayley were slow to begin. Van Nostrum, Wolf Spy, Hella Bayley and Darley Tuesday collided approaching the first turn. Slipaway Anna, Jem's Princess, Van Nostrum, Wolf Spy, Darley Tuesday and Counting Stars collided on the first turn checking Jem's Princess, Van Nostrum and Counting Stars and causing Wolf Spy to fall. Jem's Princess and Van Nostrum collided approaching the home turn.

Stewards spoke to B. Baxter, the representative of the greyhound Annabella Girl, regarding its improved performance today. Mr Baxter stated that it was the greyhound's first start for his kennel and he expected an improved performance from the greyhound today. Stewards noted his comments.
