This event was delayed by 90 seconds.
Nook And Cranny and Field Marshal were slow to begin. Nook And Cranny, Volatile Bale and Mepunga Nick collided approaching the first turn severely checking Nook And Cranny, which contacted the running rail and lost considerable ground. Budget Blowout, Slipaway Jenifer, Mepunga Nick and Gary Doogan collided on the first turn checking Slipaway Jenifer, Mepunga Nick and Gary Doogan. Volatile Bale and Gary Doogan collided approaching the home turn checking Volatile Bale which collided with Mepunga Nick. Mepunga Nick and Kaufman Bale collided on the home turn causing Kaufman Bale to race wide. Budget Blowout and Field Marshal collided on the home turn.
Nook And Cranny was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained soreness to the left monkey muscle, left pencil muscle and left and right quadriceps, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards charged Mr. Michael Gibbons with a breach of GAR 46 in that he failed to appear at the kennels by the appointed time to retrieve the greyhound Budget Blowout for it's engagement. Mr. Gibbons pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined the sum of $100.
