Bold Caper was slow to begin. Melee Bale and She's A Melgar collided soon after the start. She's A Melgar and Melee Bale collided approaching the first turn checking both greyhounds. Melee Bale and She's A Melgar collided on the first turn checking She's A Melgar, and causing Harrier Bale to race wide. Bold Caper and Lachlan Fantasy collided in the early part of the home straight. Bold Caper eased in the home straight and collided with Lachlan Fantasy.
Space Titan was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Stewards spoke to Ms. Annette McInnes, the trainer of the greyhound Bold Caper regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Bold Caper with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Ms. McInnes pleaded not guilty to the charge, Bold Caper was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Warrnambool and directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
