Steward's Report
Bluebell Colour – Late scratching at 16:01 on the advice of the On– Track Veterinarian (GAR 92) due to vomiting and diarrhoea. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Bernardo's Baby was quick to begin. Dundee Piper and Rapidfire Girl were slow to begin.
Bernardo's Baby lost ground approaching the winning post, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right triangle injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr Billy Stockdale regarding the racing manners of Bernardo's Baby in the home straight. After hearing submissions from Mr Stockdale, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, the Stewards issued a warning to connections.
Rapidfire Girl visibly eased and turned its head outwards in the home straight, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was re–examined following race 9, Rapidfire Girl was found to have a right back muscle injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr Brett Hare regarding Rapidfire Girls’s racing manners. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Rapidfire Girl was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Hare pleaded guilty to the charge. Rapidfire Girl was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post–race urine sample was taken from Duchess Georgia – the winner of the event.
