Whatever Willow was quick to begin. Naringal Sally, Sweet As Mary and Windy Biscuit were slow to begin.
She Is Spoilt raced wide in the home straight.
Fireproofed (visibly eased turning off the back straight and subsequently tailed off) underwent a post–race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Trainer Mr. Keith Lancaster declined the opportunity to have the greyhound re-examined. Stewards spoke to Mr. Keith Lancaster regarding Fireproofed's racing manners. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Fireproofed was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Lancaster pleaded guilty to the charge. Fireproofed is suspended for 28 days at Ballarat must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 124, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
