A pre-race swab sample was taken from Expressionate. Mr Tab and Gordon's Larry were slow out. Gordon's Larry and Chief Fortified collided soon after the start. Gordon's Larry, Chief Fortified, Shirl The Girl, Expressionate, Ryght Gun and Petlin Prince collided on the first turn checking Shirl The Girl, Expressionate, Ryght Gun and Petlin Prince. Spanish Maxi crossed to the outside soon after the start checking Hyde Park, Slamm, Arvo's Blitz and Coulta Birch. World Champ Camp, Slamm and Coulta Birch collided on the first turn. Spanish Maxi and Jumbo Forrest collided on the first turn. Spanish Maxi veered out and fought Jumbo Forrest approaching the second turn. Spanish Maxi, Scarpantoni and Jumbo Forrest collided on the second turn. World Champ Camp, Slamm and Coulta Birch collided on the second turn checking Slamm. World Champ Camp and Arvo's Blitz collided on the home turn and again entering the home straight. Spanish Maxi was vetted following the Event and Dr. David Hall, the Club's Veterinary Surgeon, reported that he could find no injury apparent with the greyhound. Stewards charged Spanish Maxi in contravention of AGRR 80.1 for fighting approaching the second turn. After taking evidence from Trainer, G. Kantzidis, acting on their own observations and viewing the official video film, the Stewards found Spanish Maxi guilty as charged. Acting in accordance with AGRR 81.1, the Stewards will stand Spanish Maxi down from competing for 28 days at Sandown Park only and will require the greyhound to perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will again be accepted. Slamm was also vetted following the Event and Dr. Hall reported that he could find no injury apparent with the greyhound.

Stewards directed that a pre-race sample be taken from Settlers Way. As a urine sample was unable to be obtained either pre-race or post-race, Stewards ordered that a blood sample be taken from Settlers Way, which finished 4th in the Event. Settlers Way was slow out. Blue Eyed Boy, Arvo's Jet and Arlington collided soon after the start. Blue Eyed Boy, Bendex Flex and Hey Pronto collided approaching the first turn and again on the first turn checking Stromboli, Settlers Way, Arvo's Jet, Arlington and Benden Flex. Benden Flex checked off the heels of Stromboli approaching the second turn checking Arvo's Jet and Arlington. Stromboli and Blue Eyed Boy collided on the third turn and again approaching the home turn. Arlington was vetted following the Event and Dr. David Hall, the Club's Veterinary Surgeon, reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left shoulder. Acting on a recommendation from Dr. Hall, the Stewards will stand Arlington down from competing for 14 days.

Unhinged and Geoff's Mate were slow out. Turtel Lass and Melvyn Bale collided on the first turn. Flex Appeal and Geoff's Mate collided on the first turn. Melvyn Bale checked off the heels of Turtel Lass on the second turn checking Flex Appeal. Kola's Gift and Flex Appeal collided entering the back straight. Kola's Gift checked off the heels of Zyrtec in the home straight.

Kilby Supreme and Kalimna Rose were slow out. Myer, Ingeborg and Kilby Supreme collided soon after the start. Ingeborg and Kilby Supreme collided on the first turn checking Kalimna Rose. Hecuba and Myer collided on the first turn. Ingeborg and Kilby Supreme collided approaching the second turn checking Kilby Supreme and Kalimna Rose. Myer checked off the heels of Ingeborg on the second turn. Hecuba and Ingeborg collided on the second turn. Kalimna Rose raced wide in the back straight. Muscat was slow out. Ash's Assassin and Muscat collided soon after the start. Ash's Assassin, Nanchero Flash and Lika Harley collided approaching the first turn checking Nanchero Flash. Time Watcher and Nanchero Flash collided on the first turn. Ash's Assassin and Lika Harley collided on the first turn. Time Watcher and Nanchero Flash collided on the second turn. Ash's Assassin, Time Watcher and Nanchero Flash collided on the third turn. Ash's Assassin eased approaching the finishing line. Ash's Assassin was vetted following the Event and Dr. David Hall, the Club's Veterinary Surgeon, reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right quadriceps. Acting on a recommendation from Dr. Hall, the Stewards will stand Ash's Assassin down from competing for 7 days. Stewards charged Ash's Assassin in contravention of AGRR 80.2 for failing to pursue the lure with due commitment approaching the finishing line. After taking evidence from Handler, Michael Giles (representing Trainer - Peter Giles), and taking into account the injuries sustained to the greyhound, the Stewards invoked AGRR 82.1(d) in lieu of AGRR 80.2 and have directed that Ash's Assassin must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will again be accepted. A swab sample was taken from Pastrana Bale, the winner of the Event.

Kobble Rock was vetted following the Event and after being revetted, Dr. David Hall, the Club's Veterinary Surgeon, reported that he could find no injury apparent with the greyhound. Stewards charged Kobble Rock in contravention of AGRR 80.2 for failing to pursue the lure with due commitment approaching the finishing line. After taking evidence from Trainer, M. Sattler, acting on their own observations and viewing the official video film, the Stewards found Kobble Rock guilty as charged. Acting in accordance with AGRR 81.1, the Stewards will stand Kobble Rock down from competing for 28 days at Sandown Park only and will require the greyhound to perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will again be accepted. Swab samples were taken from the placegetters - Whisky Assassin (1st), Regal Ricky (2nd) and Kobble Rock (3rd).
