Steward's Report
Likely Sonnet, Mepunga Assassin and My Nightingale were slow out. Likely Sonnet and Mepunga Assassin collided approaching the first turn. Fine Lad and You Little Horse collided on the first turn checking Fine Lad, Elusive Puzzle and Girt. Fine Lad and Girt collided in the front straight. Girt galloped on the heels of Likely Sonnet on the second turn causing Girt to fall and severely check Elusive Puzzle. Mepunga Assassin checked off the heels of You Little Horse in the home straight.
Girt was vetted following the Event and Dr. Michael Bell, the Club's Veterinary Surgeon, reported that the greyhound sustained a cut to the left hind leg. Acting on a recommendation from Dr. Bell, the Stewards will stand Girt down from competing for 7 days.
A swab sample was taken from Mepunga Assassin, the winner of the Event.
