A pre-race sample was taken from First Commander.
Tempest Beauty and She Won't Panick were slow out. First Commander, Mesmerizing and Backa Beyond collided soon after the start checking Backa Beyond and Mesmerizing. First Commander galloped on the heels of Tunza Pace approaching the first turn checking both greyhounds. Shari Bale checked off the heels of First Commander approaching the first turn. Shari Bale checked off the heels of She Won't Panick on the first turn. Tempest Beauty checked off the heels of Mesmerizing on the first turn. Tempest Beauty and Backa Beyond collided approaching the home turn. First Commander raced wide approaching the home turn. First Commander checked off the heels of She Won't Panick in the home straight. Tempest Beauty checked off the heels of First Commander in the home straight.
First Commander was vetted after the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a muscle injury to the left shoulder. A 10 day stand down was imposed.
