Great Shiraz was slow out. Sweet Liberty, Golden Banjo, Flying Shuttle and Northop collided soon after the start checking Sweet Liberty and Northop. Torbet Bale and Tenthill Cheetah collided on the first turn. Sweet Liberty and Northop raced wide on the first turn. Golden Banjo and Great Shiraz collided approaching the second turn. Torbet Bale and Tenthill Cheetah collided approaching the second turn and again entering the back straight. Golden Banjo checked off the heels of Great Shiraz entering the back straight. Torbet Bale and Great Shiraz collided on the third turn checking Torbet Bale, Golden Banjo and Northop.
