Steward's Report

Striking Shiraz and Jet Jackson were slow out. Glenavon Mindy, Striking Shiraz and Girl Thing collided soon after start. New Mexico, Jet Jackson and Girl Thing collided approaching the first turn. Striking Shiraz checked off the heels of Girl Thing on the first turn checking New Mexico. Glenavon Mindy checked off the heels of Girl Thing approaching the third turn. Girl Thing checked off the heels of Jet Jackson approaching the third turn checking Glenavon Mindy. Striking Shiraz veered in and fought Glenavon Mindy on the third turn. New Mexico fought Girl Thing on the home turn. Girl Thing was vetted following the event and Dr Alastair Smith, the club's Vetinary Surgeon, reported he could find no injury apparent with the greyhound. Bertundy Joe was vetted following the event and Dr Smith reported that the greyhound was found to be injured in the right shoulder. Acting on a recommendation from Dr Smith, the Stewards will stand Bertundy Joe down from competing for 14 days to recover. New Mexico was also vetted following the event and Dr Smith reported that the greyhound was found to be injured in the right wrist and right triceps. Acting on a recommendation from Dr Smith, the Stewards will stand New Mexico down from competing for 5 days to recover. Stewards charged New Mexico pursuant to AGRR 80.1 for fighting on the home turn. After taking evidence from Trainer, Ronald Henderson, acting on their own observations and viewing the official video film, the Stewards found New Mexico guilty as charged. Acting in accordance with AGRR 81.1, the Stewards will stand New Mexico down from competing for 28 days at Sandown Park only and will require the greyhound to perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will again be accepted. Striking Shiraz was also vetted following the event and Dr Smith reported that he could find no injury apparent with the greyhound.
