GRADING GUIDELINES - EFFECTIVE THURSDAY 16TH MAY
07/05/2024
Please be advised that an updated version of GRV's Grading Guidelines will come into effect for meetings graded on or after Thursday 16th May.

GRV has reviewed the existing guidelines and, following consultation and input from GOTBA, is pleased to release the enhanced version of guidelines aimed at optimising grading outcomes.

The updated grading guidelines consist of the following:
  • Inclusion of Preferential Box Draw.
  • Inclusion of grading guideline 6(l) where a minimum of two starts will be required for all level 3 meetings.
  • Inclusion of grading guideline 6(o) to further protect young and inexperienced greyhounds advancing through the grades. When two of more events are graded over the same distance, and a Mixed 4/5 Event is one of those events, a 3 win greyhound will not be drawn into the Mixed 4/5 Event and GRV will substitute the next best greyhound into it's place. This guideline does not apply when on one Mixed 4/5 Event is graded.
  • Inclusion of Tier 3 times at Sale (435m, 510m, 640m) and Shepparton (390m) and changes to Tier 3 Times at Sandown (715m) & The Meadows (730m).
  • Modification to the Maiden Order Of Entry which has been consolidated and debutants promoted up the order of entry.
  • Clarification of the seeded guarded selection criteria as outlined in grading guideline 21(b).
  • Modification to the Victorian Weighted Points table with less weight given to Mixed 4/5 or higher Events at Provincial Events. This change will impact individual greyhounds rankings that have been competing in these events in the last 8 starts.
