The Club Veterinary Surgeon examined Letsy Bale and no illness was detected. The greyhound was a late scratching at 6:22pm due to weight variation (GAR 39). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer, Mr. S. Collins was fined the sum of $100.
Enry's Surprize was quick to begin. Hercules Bale, Valentine Belle, Bronelly Magic and Pay Da Trail collided soon after the start. Coolan Boy checked off Pay Da Trail approaching the first turn checking Bronelly Magic, Valentine Belle and Hercules Bale. Coolan Boy and Roxy's A Rebel collided approaching the home turn checking Coolan Boy. Coolan Boy and Bronelly Magic collided approaching the home turn checking both greyhounds. Hercules Bale galloped on the heels of Bronelly Magic approaching the home turn severely checking Bronelly Magic, Valentine Belle and Hercules Bale; Hercules Bale stumbled and fell as a result.
Hercules Bale was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to it's right monkey muscle. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
A sample was taken from Pay Da Trail, the winner of the event.
Subsequent to the event, Stewards charged Ms. A. Courts with a breach of GRV LRR 16.2 in that she was unable to produce her certificate of registration when demanded by a steward in the catching pen area. Ms. Courts pleaded guilty to the charge. Stewards found Ms. Courts guilty as charged and imposed a $100 fine (with $50 suspended for a period of 12 months pending no further breaches of GRV LRR 16.2).
