Francol, Zelda's Gift, Download and Lulugen were slow to begin. Francol checked off Red Flynn on the first turn. Zelda's Gift checked off Download on the first turn. Rosetta's Junior and Red Flynn collided on the first turn severely checking Rosetta's Junior and Francol and causing Rosetta's Junior to stumble as a result. Download checked off Lulugen approaching the home turn. Download and Lulugen collided entering the home straight. Zelda's Gift eased approaching the winning post.
Zelda's Gift was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found. Trainer, Mr. M. Craggill declined a re-vet for the greyhound.
Stewards spoke to Mr. M. Craggill, the trainer of the greyhound Zelda's Gift. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1), stewards charged Zelda's Gift with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment and suspended the greyhound for 28 days (Geelong) and directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
