Aston Monarchy was quick to begin. Aston Mead was slow to begin.
Chappy's Thief eased approaching the winning post, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left chest injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Ms. Loren Dickinson regarding the racing manners of Chappy's Thief approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Chappy's Thief was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Ms. Dickinson pleaded guilty to the charge. Chappy's Thief must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
