A sample was taken from Delightful upon arrival at the course.
Delightful was quick to begin. Delightful and Coconut Santiago raced wide in the home straight.
Fried Giblet (severely checked approaching the home turn) underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported.
Coconut Santiago (eased in the home straight) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right back muscle injury. A 21 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Representative Mr P.Gabriel regarding Coconut Santiago’s racing manners in the home straight Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Coconut Santiago was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Gabriel pleaded guilty to the charge. Coconut Santiago was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
