Steward's Report
A race day sample was taken from Sponge Kisses at the trainer’s kennel earlier today.
Tom's Bourbski was slow to begin.
Mighty Moose (lost ground over the concluding stages) underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left long head triceps injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Ms. Maria Barber regarding Mighty Moose's overall performance in the event. In accordance with GAR 122, the Stewards requested Ms. Barber to report as soon as practicable anything that may have affected the running of Mighty Moose in the event which was not noted by Stewards during or immediately after the event. Update 9.2.2024: Following a subsequent veterinary examination at Ms. Barber's kennels on 9.2.24, Mighty Moose was found to have a right Gracilis (back muscle) injury.
Sponge Kisses (visibly eased entering the back straight) underwent a post-race veterinary examination, was re-examined following race 12 and was found to have a right long head triceps injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to kennel representative Mr. Shaun Coulson regarding Sponge Kisses' racing manners. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Sponge Kisses was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Coulson pleaded not guilty to the charge. Sponge Kisses was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
