Steward's Report
A pre–race sample was taken from Dr. Chieftain.
Last Crack - Late scratching at 6.49pm by order of Stewards after Representative Mr. Geoff Smith failed to appear at the kennels by the appointed time to retrieve and prepare the greyhound for racing.
Dr. Chieftain was slow to begin.
Torpedo Tuohy contacted the running rail on the first turn, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left shoulder injury and left hind torn nail. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Beautiful Liar faltered and lost ground on the first turn, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hind toe injury, left hock sprain and right hock sprain. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. Geoff Smith after he failed to appear at the kennels by the appointed time to retrieve and prepare Last Crack for racing. Acting under GAR 97(2) the Stewards charged Mr. Smith for failing to arrive by the appointed time, resulting in the late scratching of the greyhound. Mr. Smith pled guilty to the charge. A fined of $250 was imposed.
There was no head-on vision avaliable in the home straight for this event.
