The closing time of kennelling was altered in accordance with GAR 86 due to the late arrival of several trainers who experienced significant traffic delays on–route to the track. The kennels closed at 6:40pm.

Due to the late closing of kennelling the race times were amended to the following:

Race 1 at 7:13pm

Race 2 at 7:37pm

Race 3 at 7:55pm

Race 4 at 8:19pm

Race 5 at 8:35pm

Race 6 at 8:50pm

All other races continued as scheduled.

Isle Of Rose and Aston Gaga were quick to begin. Darnum Fox, Zipping Alexa and Weblec Marquise were slow to begin.

Weblec Marquise - was severely checked on the first turn and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Darnum Fox - clipped the heels of another runner when leaving the back straight and fell, taking no further competitive part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Post-race urine and hair samples were taken from Isle Of Rose (1st) and Aston Gaga (2nd).

In accordance with LR 40.2, Dylan Bate was issued with a warning regarding non–compliance with the GRV Dress Standards.

Oh Evie and Here Comes Milli were quick to begin. Hocus Pocus slipped at the start and was subsequently slow to begin. Mackinaw Peach and Shine On Lilly were also slow to begin after being bumped by Hocus Pocus.

Hocus Pocus - collided with the running rail when leaving the home straight and lost significant ground. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Post-race urine and hair samples were taken from Here Comes Milli (1st) and Aunt Virginia (2nd).

Common Step was severely checked soon after the start and was unable to complete the course. Due to Common Step being unsecured in the home straight, and in the interest of safety for all runners, participants and staff, the decision was made to allow the remaining greyhounds to catch the lure on the turn out of the back straight. Stewards held the All Clear and subsequently declared the Event a No Race, pursuant to GAR 110. All bets are to be refunded. The weights recorded for the greyhounds are void and do not count for the purposes of the weight rule at the greyhounds’ next start. The event was then abandoned, with prizemoney to be split evenly between the greyhounds which competed. The Stewards made no orders in accordance with GAR 111(2)(a). As such, the Stewards conducted a random public ballot to determine the two greyhounds to participate in the final of the Group 2 Laurels Classic on 14 December 2023, in accordance with GAR 111(2)(b).

Common Step underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a fractured tibia and fibula of the left hind leg. A 90 day stand down period was imposed.

I'm A Mustang, Desired Path, Runnin' Dynasty and Halloween all underwent post-race veterinary examinations and no abnormalities were detected for any of these runners.

Lindenow Grace underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed abrasions to the left fore. No stand down period was imposed.

Pat Ability underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed abrasions to the right fore. No stand down period was imposed.

Lamia Mila was quick to begin.

Post-race urine and hair samples were taken from Granny Roses (1st) and Lamia Mila (2nd).

Dutch Impact and Kiss For Luck were slow to begin.

Shima Deb raced wide throughout.

Isle's Entity was quick to begin.

Mrs. Shona Crawford was fined $50 for failing to ensure the registration card was produced for My Bonneville, pursuant to GAR 88.

Die Hard was slow to begin.

Aston Michigan was very slow to begin.

Versatile was quick to begin. Big Stacks was slow to begin.

Xile Bale was slow to begin.

A post-race sample was taken from Lupini Monelli - the winner of the event.

A pre-race sample was taken from Aston Hematite.

Settlement Day and Aston Hematite were quick to begin. Mandingo was slow to begin.

Lakeview Buff was quick to begin. Ari Dumbledore was slow to begin.

Raven Nighthawk - turned its head inwards and visibly eased on the home turn, then subsequently collided with another runner and lost considerable ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a right hind spike wound. Stewards spoke to kennel representative Ms. Rickii Lee Church regarding Raven Nighthawk’s racing manners on the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Raven Nighthawk was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (2nd offence). Ms. Church pleaded not guilty to the charge. Raven Nighthawk was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at all tracks and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Big Braveheart - faltered and tailed off from the turn out of the back straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a right hock fracture and left hind leg laceration. A 90 day stand down period was imposed.
