Sundance Ruby raced ungenerously approaching through the first turn, tailed off, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was then also re–examined following Race 10. Sundance Ruby was found to be displaying erratic and unusual behaviours. A 10 day stand down period was recomended and imposed. 

Stewards then spoke to trainer Mr G. Johnson regarding Sundance Ruby racing manners throughout the race and the erratic and unusual behaviour post-race. After hearing evidence from Mr. Johnson, viewing the available race footage, having their own observations and assessing the veterinary report provided, the Stewards acted under the provisions of GAR 42 (1) (b) and prohibited Sundance Ruby from competing in an event until such time as both a veterinary clearance is provided to the satisfaction of Stewards and a Satisfactory Trial is completed pursuant to GAR 132. Further, in accordance with GAR 122, the Stewards requested Mr. Johnson to report as soon as practicable anything (further) that may have affected the running of Sundance Ruby in the event, which was not noted by Stewards during or immediately after the event.
