Steward's Report
Perfect Stranger was very slow to begin (3 lengths). Twilight Style was slow to begin.
Travelling Joyce was checked and faltered on the first turn, then subsequently tailed off. Travelling Joyce underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found a right long head tricepts injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Rainbow Rocket raced ungenerously on the first turn, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left hind toe abrasion. A 3 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr S. Webb regarding the greyhound's racing manners. After hearing evidence from Mr, Webb, viewing all the available race footage and acting on their own observations, Stewards took no further action. In arriving at this decision, Stewards took into heavy consideration the interference occurring to Rainbow Rocket's inside and the possible affect this incident would have had on the greyhound's racing manners on the first turn. Stewards were of the belief that the option to charge Rainbow Rocket for failing to pursue the lure with due commitment was open to them, but declined to do so in the belief that this would have been contrary to the intentions and the spirit of the rules.
Twilight Style raced ungenerously on the first turn and underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr S. Vantaarling regarding the greyhound's racing manners.
