Black Star Indi, Black Jester and Playmaker were slow to begin. 

Black Jester (turned it's head to the outside in the home straight), underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was re–examined following race 4 - no apparent injury was reported.

Stewards spoke to representative, Mr Aaron Blake regarding Black Jester’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Black Jester was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Blake pleaded guilty to the charge. Black Jester was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Bendigo and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

National Icon and Leroy were slow to begin.

National Icon underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a thoraco-lumbar injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to representative, Mr Robert Sullivan regarding the racing manners of National Icon. After hearing submissions from Mr Sullivan, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, the Stewards issued a warning to connections.

Max Is Mad was quick to begin. Calzaghe was slow to begin.

An out of competition sample was taken from Solar Lock on 10 May 2023, pursuant to GAR 139.

Mepunga Tilly and Madame Zsa Zsa were quick to begin.

A post-race sample was taken from Madame Zsa Zsa - the winner of the event.

Rothwell Boy and Mr. Ha Ha were quick to begin. Millers Road and Linda Listen were slow to begin.

Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr Jordan Formosa regarding the racing manners of Windy Buscuit in the home straight. After hearing submissions from Mr Jormosa, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, Stewards took no further action.

Linda Listen (faltered and lost ground approaching the first turn), underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right back muscle injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Call Me John and McIvor Jill were quick to begin.

Pandorica (fell entering the back straight), underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported.

Shogub Warlord was quick to begin. Neil's Phoenix was slow to begin.

Tilly Divine underwent a post–race veterinary examination at the trainer’s request and was found to have a split webbing. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

A pre-race sample was taken from Chanko Girl.

McIvor Clyde was quick to begin. Jedda Milne was slow to begin.

Jedda Milne (lost ground in the back straight and tailed off), underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was re–examined following race 12. Jedda Milne was found to have a right triangle muscle injury and a cervico-thoracic injury. A 21 day stand down period was imposed.

A post-race sample was taken from Wichita Bale - the winner of the event.

Aston Randal was slow to begin.

Bucket Of Oil (severely checked on the home turn), underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported.

Tuscaloosa (severely checked on the home turn), underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have an abrasion. A 3 day stand down period was imposed

Maddie Odd Sock – New declared weight of 26.7kg, last raced at 28.1kg.

A pre-race sample was taken from Bennachie Lass.

Clara Stella and Maddie Odd Sock were quick to begin.

Colour Violet underwent a post–race veterinary examination at the trainer’s request and was found to have spike wound. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Summer Season – New declared weight of 28.1kg, last raced at 26.8kg.

What A Spirit (lost ground approaching the winning post), underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a pencil muscle injury and a spike wound. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Reiko Clooney was slow to begin.

Starchie (lost ground in the back straight), underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left monkey muscle injury. A 21 day stand down period was imposed.

Meeting Comments:

The Stewards were advised that the track was medium harrowed on 14 May 2023.

In accordance with LR 40.2, Participant, Miss Kate Jackson was issued with a warning regarding non–compliance with the GRV Dress Standards.

Stewards have opened and adjourned an inquiry into relation to a incident that occurred during kennelling in the wash bay.
