Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Self Control.
Stewards held the All Clear due to a greyhound wearing the number two (2) rug competing in the event. After reviewing all available video footage, it was established that Hill Top Jonah was wearing rug two (2) and started from box two (2) when in fact Hill Top Jonah was drawn to wear rug four (4) and start from box four (4). Aston Sundance who correctly wore rug number nine (9) started from box four (4) instead of its allocated box of box two (2) which is contrary to the provisions of GAR 85. As Hill Top Jonah and Aston Sundance started from the incorrect boxes (and Hill Top Jonah wore an incorrect rug); the Stewards declared the event a No-Race pursuant to GAR 110. All bets placed on race 10 are refunded. The weights recorded for the greyhounds in this event do not count for the purposes of the weight rule at the greyhounds’ next start. The event was then abandoned, with prizemoney to be split evenly between the greyhounds which competed.
Evidence was taken from the handlers of Hill Top Jonah, Aston Sundance and all the relevant officials. This matter has been referred to the Chief Steward.
Supplementary Report - 23 November 2022 - Stewards finalised an inquiry with Trainer Mrs Margery Quick in relation to the above no-race last week. The Stewards issued a charge to Mrs Quick under GAR 156(f)(ii) for neglignece with the particulars being that Mrs Margery Quick placed the incorrect rug on Hill Top Jonah and presented that greyhound to race, which in the opinion of the Stewards was negligent. Mrs Quick pled guilty to the charge and was fined $250.
