Steward's Report
A sample was taken from Sonic Cyclone, upon arrival at the course.
Sonic Cyclone was quick to begin. Draconian was slow to begin.
Draconian was severely checked at the 200m, faltered and subsequently pulled up. Draconian underwent a post–race veterinary examination, was re-vetted after race 10 and was found to have a stifle injury on the right hindleg. A 21 day stand down period was imposed.
Steel Hawk stumbled at the 200m and tailed off. Steel Hawk underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was re-vetted after race 9 - no apparent injury was reported.
Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr. Paul Ellul regarding Steel Hawk's performance in the event. After hearing submissions from Mr. Ellul, viewing the available race footage, and acting on their observations, Stewards deemed the performance of Steel Hawk unsatisfactory. Steel Hawk must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 129, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race blood sample was taken from Superior Shirley - the winner of the event.
Following the running of this event, Stewards inspected the track at the 200m and deemed it satisfactory for racing.
