Steward's Report
Out of competition samples were taken from Lektra Heckler, Salad Dodger, Unleash Collinda, Indy Fido and Matt's Hope on 22 March 2023 pursuant to GAR 139.
Out of competition samples were taken from Fernando Mick, Always A Thrill and Fire Hose on 23 March 2023 pursuant to GAR 139.
An out of competition sample was unable to be obtained from Tinker Norm on 23 March 2023,
Lektra Heckler was quick to begin. Indy Fido was slow to begin.
Matt's Hope (faltered and lost ground on the first turn), underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right groin injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Trainer Ms Michelle Mallia regarding Matt's Hope overall performance in the event. In accordance with GAR 122, the Stewards requested Ms Mallia to report as soon as practicable anything that may have affected the running of Matt's Hope in the event, which was not noted by Stewards during or immediately after the event. Supplementary report (27.03.2023): Trainer M. Mallia reported to Stewards that the greyound had sustained an injury to the left chest muscle.
A post-race blood and urine sample was taken from Lektra Heckler - the winner of the event.
Post–race samples were taken from Unleash Collinda (2nd) and Always A Thrill (3rd).
