Johnny Fatboy tired and lost considerable ground turning off the back straight, underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to trainer Ms. Pauline Patterson regarding the greyhound's overall performance in today's event as well as the step up in distance. Ms. Patterson advised Stewards that the greyhound may be better suited to Tier 3 racing and that the greyhound is still acquiring fitness after an injury earlier in the year, and may not have been at the fitness level required to run out the trip in today's event. Ms. Patterson further advised that the greyhound prefers drier conditions and that going forward she will race Johnny Fatboy over shorter distances until she feels the greyhound is at the level required for staying trips. Stewards were satisified with Ms. Patterson's comments today and took no further action, but will continue to monitor the greyhound at future starts.

Plaintiff was quick to begin.

Silver Ability shifted out and lost ground entering the home straight, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have an abrasion to the left-hind webbing. No stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr. Robert Weightman regarding the greyhound's performance upon entering the home straight. Mr. Weightman advised Stewards that the greyhound has a propensity to race wide and was stepping up in distance today. Mr. Weightman further advised Stewards that he will race Silver Ability over shorter distances moving forward. Stewards were satisfied with Mr. Weightman's comments today and took no further action, but will contine to monitor the greyhound at future starts.

Rollin' Free was slow to begin.

Stewards spoke to trainer Ms. Michelle Mallia regarding the racing manners of Quest For Extra in the home straight. After hearing submissions from Ms. Mallia, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, the Stewards issued a warning to connections regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight.

An out of competition sample was taken from City Nights on 28 June 2022 pursuant to GAR 139.

City Nights and Incineration were quick to begin.

Besant Bale was quick to begin. Yarrell Bale was slow to begin.

Crackerjack Boom was severely checked turning off the back straight, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have bruising to the right shoulder. A 3 day stand down period was imposed.

Dot's Redeemer and Son of Brock were quick to begin. Treloar Bale began awkwardly and was slow to begin.

Stewards spoke to kennel representative Mr. Mason Koffman regarding the manner in which Kaori shifted out approaching the first turn. Mr. Koffman advised Stewards that Kaori is still very green and also has the tendency to race to the outside when trialling. As it was the greyhound's first start and Kaori is still developing a race pattern, Stewards gave the greyhound the benefit of doubt, noted Mr. Koffman's comments and took no further action.

Stewards reminded the Starter of their responsibilities to ensure that the amber light is switched on whilst greyhounds are being boxed.
