Steward's Report
Jack Hook and Feel Like Flying were quick to begin.
Norse Queen fell after the finishing post and underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
Atomic Jax fell after the finishing post, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a laceration on the left hind metatarsal region. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Move Away visibly eased approaching the winning post, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have right hock sprain. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to kennel representative Mark Johnson regarding Move Away's racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Move Away was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Johnson pled guilty to the charge. Move Away must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Stewards spoke to Mr. Brandon Mackie regarding the racing manners of Feel Like Flying in the home straight. After hearing submissions from Mr. Mackie, viewing the available race footage, and having their own observations, Stewards took no further action.
A post-race sample was taken from Jack Hook - the winner of the event.
