Shank's Pony and Little Nellie were quick to begin. Mt. View Buck, Magic Lies and Deadly Rookie were slow to begin.

Magic Lies fell approaching the first turn and underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported.

Shank's Pony fell in the first turn , underwent a post-race veterinary examination and and was found to have an abrasion to the right thigh. No stand down period was imposed.
