Steward's Report
A pre–race sample was taken from Call Me Jade.
Meeting Comments:
An inquiry was opened and finalised into the conduct of licensed person Mr Brent Merton in the vicinity of the carpark area during the race-meeting. After considering all the evidence, the Stewards issued a charge against Mr Merton under GAR 165 (a). The particulars being that at the Mr. Merton, being a registered person with GRV, has conducted himself in a manner which was detrimental and prejudicial to the interests and image of greyhound racing. Mr Merton pleaded guilty to the charge and was found guilty. After considering submissions from Mr Merton, Stewards issued a fine of $500, which was wholly suspended for 24 months, pending no further conduct related issues in that time. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration: Mr Merton's submissions regarding his personal circumstances, the circumstances of the offence, Mr Merton's guilty plea, specific and general deterrence, the significance of the image of greyhound racing to GRV and the denunciation and precedents of a similar nature.
