A pre-race sample was taken from Violet Rose.
Riverdale Bear and Elusive Fly collided soon after the start. Go Wheels and Mayhem Thrill collided approaching the first turn. Mayhem Thrill, Illumination and Violet Rose collided on the first turn; checking Mayhem Thrill, Illumination, Ice Star and Riverdale Bear; causing Illumination, Elusive Fly and Ice Star to collide; severely checking Illumination. Mayhem Thrill checked off Riverdale Bear on the home turn.
Elusive Fly underwent a post–race veterinary examination at the trainer’s request and was found to have a spike wound to the right hindleg metatarsal. A five day stand down period was imposed.
Illumination underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported.
