Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Coconut Kingston.
Keep It Sassy was slow to begin.
Coconut Kingston and Mo City collided soon after the start. Mo City and Laughing Larry collided approaching the first turn checking Mo City. Coconut Kingston galloped on the heels of Keep It Sassy on the first turn severely checking Coconut Kingston and Mo City. Ibbie Bale visibly eased on the home turn and subsequently tailed off. Keep It Sassy raced greenly on the home turn.
Keep It Sassy underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound to the right fore. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to representative Mr D. Sharp regarding the racing manners of Keep It Sassy on the home turn. After hearing evidence from Mr. Sharp, considering the evidence from the OTV and his findings, viewing all the available race footage and acting on their own observations, Stewards took no further action.
Ibbie Bale underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 11, no apparent injury could be detected. Stewards spoke to representative Mr D. Gibbons, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Ibbie Bale was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Gibbons pleaded guilty to the charge, Ibbie Bale was suspended for 28 days at Geelong only and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
