Steward's Report
An out of competition sample was taken from Three Bears on 9 February 2022 pursuant to GAR 79A.
Habits To Burn and Three Bears were quick to begin. Orson Ruby and Western Blazer collided soon after the start checking both greyhounds. Three Bears, Quamby Bale and Habits To Burn collided in the back straight checking Quamby Bale, Western Blazer and Paisanos. Orson Ruby checked off Three Bears approaching the first turn. Orson Ruby galloped on Three Bears on the first turn. Three Bears checked off Paianos on the first turn. Habits To Burn visibly eased and turned its head outwards on the home turn. Paisanos and Western Blazer collided on the home turn. Habits To Burn shifted out abruptly on the home turn and collided with Orson Ruby. Quamby Bale and Habits To Burn collided on the home turn, both fell and failed to finish as a result.
Three Bears underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
Quamby Bale underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a thoraco-lumbar injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Habits To Burn underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr W. Gray regarding the greyhound’s racing manners entering the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Habits To Burn was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Gray pleaded guilty to the charge, Habits To Burn was suspended for 28 days at Geelong only and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
