Steward's Report
All staff and participants attending the race meeting wore face masks at all times when inside the kennel block and associated buildings, and when engaged in the exclusive race day functions of boxing, starting, and catching greyhounds.
Take A Daffodil, Pete and Natalia Lee were slow to begin.
Run Topper and He Can Talk collided approaching the first turn. He Can Talk turned its head outwards on the home turn. Big City Nights and He Can Talk collided entering the home straight.
He Can Talk underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have no apparent injury. Mr Gringhuis declined the option to have the greyhound re-vetted.
Stewards spoke to Mr Arend Gringhuis, the trainer of He Can Talk regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) He Can Talk was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Gringhuis pleaded guilty to the charge, He Can Talk was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Warragul and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Big City Nights - the winner of the event.
There was no head on vision of the back straight for this event.
