A pre-race sample was taken from Pat May Joy.
Pat May Joy and Aston Tenge collided soon after the start, checking Pat May Joy. Air Race Ace and Aston Tenge collided approaching the home turn. Aston Malle and Torquay Bale collided approaching the home turn. Torquay Bale faltered on the home turn and tailed off as a result.
Torquay Bale underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have right hindleg back and pencil/whip muscle injuries. A 60 day stand down period was imposed.
