Steward's Report

All persons attending today undertook successful health screenings, wore facemasks, checked in, observed social distance requirements and provided satisfactory evidence of double vaccination or exemption under the State Government’s mandatory vaccination directions (as of 26 November 2021) that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue.

In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed 'Heat Affected'.  At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 24.0 degrees and the kennel temperature was 16.6 degrees.  The Stewards continually monitored the temperature at the venue as per the GRV Hot Weather Policy. 

Brightly Staring was slow to begin. Big Boy Duke, Brightly Staring and Sartana collided soon after the start. Big Boy Duke, Brightly Staring, Sartana, Baffling, Crystal Rocks, Double Top and Bear Lee Bandit collided on the first turn checking Big Boy Duke, Brightly Staring, Sartana and Bear Lee bandit and severely checking Baffling and Crystal Rocks, causing Crystal Rocks to pull up as a result. Patchy Walloper visibly eased on the first turn and collided with Big Boy Duke and Brightly Staring checking all three greyhounds. Big Boy Duke and Baffling collided approaching the home turn. Double Top and Bear Lee Bandit collided in the home straight checking Double Top.

Patchy Walloper underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left triangle injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr. Leonard Jones, regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the first turn.  Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Patchy Walloper was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury).  Mr. Jones pleaded guilty to the charge, Patchy Walloper was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial  in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Crystal Rocks underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right shoulder blade fracture and wrist sprain. A 60 day stand down period was imposed.
