Steward's Report
All persons attending today undertook successful health screenings, wore facemasks, checked in, observed social distance requirements, and provided satisfactory evidence of double vaccination or exemption under the State Government’s mandatory vaccination directions (as of 26 November 2021) that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue.
Swift Ability, Kung Pow Kevin and Winlock Megget were slow to begin. Love The City and Ambrose Bale collided soon after the start. Swift Ability, Kung Pow Kevin and Ambrose Bale collided on the first turn causing Ambrose Bale to race wide. Kung Pow Kevin, Ambrose Bale and Winlock Meggett collided entering the back straight checking Winlock Meggett. Ximena Bale checked off Love The City in the back straight checking Winlock Meggett. Red Impact galloped on Rio Margarita approaching the third turn. Swift Ability and Love The City collided in the back straight and several times approaching the home turn. Red Impact and Ximena Bale collided on the home turn. Swift Ability and Rio Margarita collided entering the home straight.
Swift Ability was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right calf muscle, a 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Representative - Mr. J Azzopardi (representing Trainer - Mr. A Azzopardi) regarding the racing manners of Swift Ability approaching the home turn. After hearing evidence from Mr. Azzopardi and viewing all available video footage, Stewards were satisfied there was interference approaching the home turn and took no further action.
A post-race sample was taken from Rio Margarita, the winner of the event.
