Steward's Report
Taiepa, Lala Hibiscus and Waylin Bale were slow to begin.
Trojan Package checked off Another Episode soon after the start. Trojan Package and Across The Sky collided approaching the first turn checking Lala Hibiscus. Waylin Bale shifted out and crossed the heels of Aston Spinel approaching the second turn checking Trojan Package, Lala Hibiscus and Across The Sky. Taiepa faltered and lost ground entering the back straight. Another Episode Marred Shaka Big Tonks on the home turn. Aston Spinel visibly eased, turned it's head and shifted out on the home turn following Another Episode and Shaka Big Tonks and lost ground as a result. Trohan Package and Aston Spinel collided on the home turn checking Across The Sky.
Aston Spinel underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Mr Julian declined the option to have the greyhound re-vetted. Stewards spoke to Mr Andrew Julian, the representative of Aston Spinel regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Aston Spinel was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Julian pleaded not guilty to the charge, Aston Spinel was found guilty and suspended for 3 months at all tracks and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Taiepa underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hock fracture. A 90 day stand down period was imposed.
Another Episode underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right monkey muscle injury. A 21 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr Brian Brown, the trainer of Another Episode regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Another Episode was charged with marring. Mr Brown pleaded guilty to the charge, Another Episode was found guilty and suspended for 12 months at all tracks and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted. Mr Brown advised stewards that consideration would be taken into retiring the greyhound.
A post-race sample was taken from Lala Hibiscus - the winner of the event.
Following this event Stewards walked the track in the vacinity near the catching pen, and entering the back straight and deemed the track satisfactory for racing.
