Millie Millions was quick to begin.
Cullquin Vincent and Battling Baz collided soon after the start, checking Cullquin Vincent. Battling Baz checked off Zambora Crystal approaching the first turn. Rowchester Patty and Millie Millions collided approaching the first turn. Battling Baz, Mepunga Hayles and Shim's Heart collided approaching the first turn. Zambora Crystal and Millie Millions collided on the first turn. Mepunga Hayles checked off Millie Millions approaching the home turn; causing Mepunga Hayles and Shim's Heart to collide; severely checking Millie Millions, which lost ground; checking Battling Baz. Joffa's Monaro checked off Rowchester Patty on the home turn. Battling Baz and Shim's Heart collided entering the home straight.
Millie Millions underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hindleg back muscle injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
