Steward's Report
Victory Rose - Late scratching at 8:59 when Trainer Mr. Adrian Smit reported the greyhound to have an illness (GAR 23). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate pursuant to GAR 20 (3)(v) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Grant's Treasure and Flywheel Bandit were slow to begin.
Dr. Libby and Victory Peggy collided approaching the first turn. Victory Indi and Blazin' Lass collided approaching the first turn. Grant's Treasure and Victory Indi collided on the first turn. Victory Indi checked off Blazin' Lass and collided with Grant's Treasure approaching the home turn, checking Grant's Treasure and Victory Indi. Blazin' Lass and Victory Peggy collided on the home turn. Grant's Treasure and Victory Indi collided entering the home straight. Blazin' Lass galloped on Victory Peggy in the home straight checking both greyhounds.
Trainer Mr. Adrian Smit presented Victory Peggy to the Stewards after kennelling to clarify the weight recorded earlier in the day. The weight of 37.2kg appeared to be erroneously recorded. As this was Victory Peggy's first start, that matter could only be resolved satisfactorily by checking the greyhound’s actual weight as no history of recorded weights was available. After being identified and weighed on-site, it clearly established that the weight recorded for the greyhounds first start could not possibly have been correct and it would be entirely unreasonable to not rectify the matter. Under the provisions of GAR 38 (1) - the Stewards deemed it necessary to make such order that 27.2kg will be officially recorded as the correct weight at Victory Peggy's first start.
Stewards opened an inquiry into the late scratching of Victory Rose in Race 2 at Sale Greyhound Club on Sunday, 19 September, 2021. After hearing evidence from Trainer Mr. Adrian Smit, Stewards decided to lay a charge under GAR 86(o) for the negligent late scratching of the greyhound Victory Rose. Mr. Smit pleaded not guilty to the charge, was subsequently found guilty, and fined a sum of $250.00.
