A sample was taken from Starlight Tyson upon arrival at the course.
Joyous Venture was slow to begin.
Wrangler Jane and King Cartel collided approaching the first turn checking Wrangler Jane. King Cartel and Starlight Tyson collided on the first turn. Nova Star and Kraken Stan collided on the first turn checking Joyous Venture and Kraken Stan. King Cartel and Nova Star collided in the home straight severely checking King Cartel.
King Cartel underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound on the right lateral paw. No stand down period was imposed.
