Val Ali - Representative Mr P. Riley was queried regarding the frequency of racing of the greyhound, his comments were noted.
Rio Hato was quick to begin. Weblec Wave, Line Stepper, McInerney, Wing Chun Girl and Curator were slow to begin. Weblec Wave and Line Stepper collided soon after the start. McInerney and Wing Chun Girl collided soon after the start. McInerney, Line Stepper and Weblec Wave collided approaching the first turn checking Line Stepper, Weblec Wave and Wing Chun Girl. Rio Hato and Tom The Cheap collided on the first turn checking Tom The Cheap and Val Ali. Weblec Wave and Line Stepper collided on the second turn. Line Stepper lost ground on the third turn. Rio Hato and McInerney collided on the third turn. Rio Hato and McInerney collided on the home turn checking Rio Hato. Rio Hato and Val Ali collided entering the home straight causing Val Ali to fall checking Wing Chun Girl. Tom The Cheap marred McInerney entering the home straight.
Line Stepper was vetted following the event and was revetted following Race 4. It was reported that the greyhound sustained shin soreness to both hindlegs, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Val Ali was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Tom The Cheap was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right calf injury, a 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to representative Mr D. Gibbons regarding the greyhound’s racing manners entering the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Tom The Cheap was charged with marring. Mr Gibbons pleaded not guilty to the charge, Tom The Cheap was found guilty and suspended for 3 months at all tracks and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from McInerney, the winner of the event.
