Steward's Report
A sample was taken from Little Herbie upon arrival at the course.
Old Sale Road – Late scratching at 1:35 pm when trainer, Mr C Watson reported the greyhound to have an illness (GAR 23). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate pursuant to GAR 20(3)(v) before any future nomination will be accepted. Stewards spoke with Mr Watson regarding the circumstances of the late scratching and subsequently took no further action.
A pre-race sample was taken from Handy Murray.
Recapture Time and Light On Tackle were quick to begin.
Handy Murray and Blue Cascade collided soon after the start. Pretty Much galloped on Jet Burner on the first turn. Blue Cascade checked off Light On Tackle on the first turn. Handy Murray and Blue Cascade collided approaching the home turn. Handy Murray raced wide on the home turn. Light On Tackle and Jet Burner collided approaching the winning post. Handy Murray checked off Pretty Much approaching the winning post.
A post-race sample was taken from Recapture Time - the winner of the event.
Little Herbie underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury could be detected. Trainer of Little Herbie, Mr L Green declined a re-vet for the greyhound.
Stewards spoke to Mr L Green, the trainer of Little Herbie regarding its performance in this event. Stewards deemed the performance unsatisfactory, acting in accordance with GAR 71, Little Herbie must perform a Satisfactory Trial pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
